Zip Archive vs Windows Installer

What are some of the major ups and downs to each install type?  Also, if we went the route of zip/archive, would we be able to do a build/deploy for updates, instead of repeating the whole install process again?  Also do either options have rollback capabilities?

The main advantages of the installer are that it will set up the Windows Service and install the bundled JRE. If you use the zip archive you will have to manually update confluence-init.properties to designate a home directory and you will have to have the system Java Home parameter set to a JDK. You will need to set up the service afterward.

I am not sure what you mean by going through the entire install process for upgrades; the setup wizard only runs on initial install, subsequent upgrades just entail running the installer or starting a new archive agaist the old version's home directory. Please let me know more on how we can help with this.

As far as rolling back, I am assuming you mean upgrades. The only way to roll back is to restore the home directory and database from backups and start the old version again.
