Can a Jira upgrade change data?

Question

I migrated to Jira 6.0.8 and I noticed that a customfield (type Date) was modified. In the History tab of one issue the last value for that date is 09/26/2013 but the value displayed in the Date section of the issue is 09/25/2013...so that field was changed outside Jira.

Any ideas how can this happen?

Upgrade won't change data. Might be a plugin or a script or maybe even an update on the DB.
