Can I change the name of an Active Directory group and changes reflect in Jira?

I have a group in AD called "ABC Temp" which is configured with a project's permissions. If I change the name, to "ABC", will there no effect in JIRA besides a group name change?

Got the same problem because I have to migrate to LDAP and have to make the group names match the LDAP conventions.
