An initially blank directory.

Pascal Collard · Answer

blank if not inside it's own folder.

"" if hosted as jira.domain.com
"/jira" if hosted on www.docimain.com/jira

Nic Brough -Adaptavist- · Answer

A directory where you want to keep your Jira data. Best to start with an empty directory, as it'll create sub-directories as required.

Never never never point it at a directory within the Jira/Tomcat installation. Frankly, it should be on a separate disk from the application installations.
