QA testing with JIRA

Hi,

Our team has been using JIRA recently for Defects Tracking. We would like to use JIRA or any other Attlasian Product to integrate QA Testing Managment into this.

I have read about plugins being able to help but I would like to know some recommendations about the best way to implement this.

If you've already read about the JIRA plugin like Zephyr and Xray, the next step would be to install the trial versions and see it for yourself. Maybe we'd be able to help if you had specific questions about a product, but I think the scope of your question is rather large.

I'll keep recommendations very general then:

• Have testers/analysts try it first. It doesn't matter if the reporting is great if the actual guys writing/using the test cases hate the tool or if it's harder/slower than what they're already doing. The goal is to be more productive, not to know accurately how much less productive you've become since you started to use this new tool.
• Take advantage of free trials. You don't need to adopt the first tool you see that sort of does the job. You can play the field and try multiple tools for free before you make your choice
• Each time you trial a solution, give it grades for each of the feature you need from it. Like, how easy/quick is it to create test cases. How comprehensive are the reports. Award more points in the categories that are more important to you (e.g. re-use of test cases: 18/20, Report flexibility: 8/10 etc.). The solution with the most points wins.
