Is there a way in JIRA, to have a parent to epics so that can be tracked as major epic or feature ?

I am wondering the same thing. Is there a way to make epics a sub-task? the major epic/feature/theme would be the parent ticket, the epic would be the sub-task, and stories can be linked to the epic.
