Can I trigger Subtask Creation (Create on Transition) "on Checkbox Select"?

I would like to trigger the same action that I currently trigger with the workflow transition with the change of a checkbox. We have a list of checkboxes which are currently only evaluated on transition and create a subtask if a value is selected.

I would like to trigger the creation when the checkbox is selected, regardless of workflow transitions. Is there a way to do this?

I don't have a solution outside of transition . Probably need a script runner listener approach.
