We reviewed the log files and did not find anything that directly pointed to the issue. As a result, we restarted our instance of Confluence and it started working as expected.

Are there any error messages in the log files ?

I did not see anything specific in the log files so we rebooted Confluence and it began working as expected. As ugly as it is, it fixed the problem.....for now.
