Autoassign to component when component is added (initially empty)?

hi all

in our JIRA upon creating an issue, the components field is optional. therefore some issues are created without a component set, and thus assigned to the project lead.

is it possible to configure JIRA to assign to the component lead if later an initial component is added to the issue?

Assigning to component lead can be done only while creation or during workflow transitions, If you change the component while editing, for example, the automcatic asssignment doesn't happen.

You will have to write a listener to do that although it can be confusing if the users also change assignee to someone else during the edit operation!
