Due Date visible by default

Is there a way to show "Due Date" under "Dates" in issues screen, with the value unset? I'd like to be able to click the calendar button on the sidebar to create a due date instead of having to edit the issue.

Define a new scripted field which returns either the actual value of the due date or a string "Not Set"
Remove the actual Due date field from the view screen

You can manually move the field position by following the steps in this doc:

In JIRA 5.1 and after you can edit the due date inline when you are in the view issue screen. Please refer to:
