Hrm, coming in the Nov 11 Bundled Release:
Issue search: Warnings for JQL queries exceeding its supported limit

Jira now displays a warning banner when a Jira Query Language (JQL) search when it exceeded its supported limit. This helps you identify when a search might not return all expected results due to system limits, allowing you to refine your query for better accuracy.

To get started with this change

1. Navigate to the Issues menu in Jira.

2. Select Search for issues.

3. Enter a JQL query in the search bar.

4. If the query exceeds its supported limits, a warning banner will appear at the top of the search results.

Is there an example of this JQL that could be used generally or what the actual limit is so a user can compare?

Ooooh, good question. I could not "break" my One Atlas (which is on Continuous and supposedly got this on Oct 8. summary is not empty brought up 48,000+ issues without any errors, but maybe the limits have to do with computations or something more complex? Anyone have ideas for a complex JQL search that will hit the limits, whatever those are?

(Yes, I also Googled jql system limits and found @mugilan's LinkedIn post where @matthew sinclair (not sure which, if any of you are him) also asked what limit's he's hit. :-)
