One thing I really miss from the previous Community platform is how easy it was to mention people already involved in a discussion.
Previously, typing @ would automatically suggest relevant members , including the original author and people who had already replied.
With HLV, this behavior is gone, and the mention search doesn't really distinguish between someone participating in the current discussion and somebody from the wider Community.
My idea
Could we make @mention suggestions context-aware ?
Ideally:
- Typing @ would initially suggest the original author and members who already participated in the discussion .
- When replying directly to someone, that person would appear first.
- Suggestions could distinguish between Members in this discussion and All Community members.
- Typing a name would still allow searching the entire Community.
- This should work consistently on desktop and mobile.
Why does this matter?
When helping users in long troubleshooting discussions, we usually want to mention someone who is already involved.
Having to manually search for their full name every time adds unnecessary effort, especially on mobile.
It also becomes complicated when a member uses a name with characters that aren't available on your keyboard.
We already discussed the missing automatic suggestions shortly after the migration, and I understand this functionality was previously implemented as a Khoros customization.
However, I think restoring a similar experience would make conversations much more natural again, without removing the ability to mention anyone else.
