I need to connect to JIRA from caude code. How can I abel to do this?
Hi @sugyana05
The easiest route is Atlassian's official Rovo MCP server, so you don't have to manage a token at all. In your terminal run claude mcp add --transport http atlassian https://mcp.atlassian.com/v2/mcp then open Claude Code, run /mcp and sign in to your Atlassian account in the browser. Setup guide: https://support.atlassian.com/atlassian-rovo-mcp-server/docs/getting-started-with-the-atlassian-remote-mcp-server/
If you do want a plain API token (for scripts or REST calls), create one at https://id.atlassian.com/manage-profile/security/api-tokens and use it with your Atlassian email as basic auth. Tokens expire after a year at most, so keep it in a password manager.
Is this Jira Cloud? The MCP server only works with Cloud sites.
