Hi - is it possible to modify the view when opening an epic to also include the issue dates and issue points?
Welcome @Melisa Haslett
You need to include these two fields into the View screen screen scheme of that project that you have.
To do this you need to be a Jira administrator and these are the steps:
Note: You should create a new screen with additional two fields. Pro tip: copy the default screen of that project and add additional fields.
When you have added your screen to your screen scheme, you need to add it to the Epic. For this you need to select Work item screen scheme, choose Epic and the new screen scheme that you have created.
Resources: https://support.atlassian.com/jira/kb/associate-fields-with-screens-in-jira-cloud/ - this is an outdated one, but it can help you out.
Hi @Melisa Haslett,
If you mean the list of child work items inside the epic, those columns can be added without an admin.
1. Open the epic and find the Child work items table.2. Click the Configure columns icon at its top right.3. Tick Start date and Due date, and Story Points if it isn't already on (it's called Story point estimate in a team-managed space).
The choice sticks per work type and space. I checked it today on Cloud:https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/customize-the-child-work-item-table/
Nikola's screens route covers the epic's own fields, not that table:https://support.atlassian.com/jira/kb/associate-fields-with-screens-in-jira-cloud/
Empty cells mean the children have no values. There's no story point total, and that request is Not Being Considered:https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-90636
We are not using Jira in the cloud…does that change your answer?
Also, I'm looking and I don't see a Configure columns icon anywhere.
Yes, it changes it. My answer was Cloud-only, and on Data Center the Issues in Epic panel has fixed columns that can't be configured. The request to change that is Not Being Considered:https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWSERVER-14705
The closest native view is an issue search on the epic's children.1. Go to Issues > Search for issues and switch to Advanced.2. Enter "Epic Link" = KEY-123 with the epic's key.3. Switch to List view and click Columns. Tick Due date, Story Points and whichever start date field your site uses, then Done.
Columns only show fields that aren't hidden and that you have permission to see. Save the search as a filter and it's there next time:https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirasoftwareserver100/working-with-search-results-1442844191.html
If you're on Data Center 8.15 or later, an Advanced Roadmaps plan also lists epics with their children, with target start and end columns:https://confluence.atlassian.com/spaces/jirasoftwareserver112/pages/1688900027/View+your+Advanced+Roadmaps+plan
