Not sure if you guys have something like this, but well 🙂
Following the migration from Khoros to HLV, some older discussions appear to have remained open, allowing users to revive threads dating back to 2020 or earlier. Or just spam those 🫤
I've noticed several instances of users repeatedly commenting on old Q&A threads, sometimes across multiple product/app forums.
Suggestion
Introduce an internal moderation dashboard or automated detection system that could:
- Flag new replies to discussions older than a configurable threshold (e.g., 1–2 years).
- Detect patterns where the same user repeatedly comments on older threads within a short period.
- Alert moderators to potentially suspicious activity for review.
- Optionally integrate with Jira Service Management Operations (JSM Ops) for alerting and escalation. 😄 (if you do, would be cool to actually see it in action :)))
This wouldn't necessarily require any user-facing functionality. 👈
The goal would be to help the Community team proactively identify potential necroposting and engagement abuse, while still allowing legitimate updates to older discussions.
It could also help identify legacy threads that should have been closed following the migration.
Related suggestion: I believe this was discussed before (or I did with someone from CAB), but consider implementing something like auto-closure of inactive discussions. E.g., if it wasn't active for 6+ months, automatically close it.
