Version for the Atlassian Community (public forum — Bitbucket Free has no support tickets)
Hello,
We rewrote the history of our private repository tripysa/rivernotes2 to remove large binary files, following the "Reduce repository size" guide. On 5 October 2026 we force-pushed every branch and tag, and every clone has been re-cloned since.
The size Bitbucket reports has not gone down:
- Bitbucket size (API
size): about 265 MB (277,617,051 bytes). - A fresh
git clone --mirror measured with git count-objects -v is about 38.6 MB packed (2 branches, 413 tags).
So about 226 MB of unreachable objects from the old history are still counted. Our workspace (tripysa, Free plan) counts about 850 MB of its 1 GB limit.
Could someone from Atlassian please run a garbage collection on tripysa/rivernotes2? If something on your side still references the old history (for example a pull request opened before the rewrite), please tell us what it is and we will remove it.
Thank you!
