Hi all,
Since October 21, 2026, I can no longer use the Atlassian Remote MCP Server from Claude Code. OAuth and the initial MCP handshake work, but the server never answers the tool listing request, so no Jira/Confluence tools load.
What happens
- OAuth flow completes in the browser ("authorized"), tokens are saved
- Client connects to https://mcp.atlassian.com/v2/mcp and initialize succeeds in ~7s (server reports atlassian-mcp-server 1.0.0, negotiated protocol 2025-11-25)
- tools/list and resources/list never respond and time out after 60s
- Raising the client timeout makes no difference
Client log excerpt:
Successfully connected (transport: http) in 7364ms
Connection established with capabilities: {"hasTools":true,"hasResources":true, ...}
Failed to fetch tools: Request timed out
Failed to fetch resources: Request timed out
What I ruled out
- Network / TLS / proxy: reproduced on a corporate VPN, on a home connection with no VPN, and on an Azure VM. No TLS interception (server certificate is the genuine Amazon-issued one) and no proxy configured.
- Account / site: a coworker has the same issue, and it also fails against a different company's Atlassian site
- Client version: fails on Claude Code 2.1.288 and 2.1.308
- Connection path: fails with the direct plugin connection and with the claude.ai connector proxy (Anthropic reference ofid_c579f5c679230ef1)
Timeline (UTC)
- Last successful tool call: 2026-10-21 14:47
- First failure observed: 2026-10-21 21:35
- Still failing: 2026-10-22 16:09
Possibly related to an earlier report with a similar post-OAuth timeout: https://community.atlassian.com/forums/discussion/3277026
Is anyone else seeing this, or is there a known incident? Happy to share more logs if useful.
Thanks!
