When submitting a new idea in the Forums Ideas & Feature Requests space, it would help if the platform automatically suggested similar existing ideas, like JSM does when creating requests through the portal.
The idea
As someone types the title or description of a new idea, the platform could display related suggestions that have already been submitted.
Ideally, users could:
- See existing ideas that might match what they're writing.
- Open those ideas to check whether their suggestion has already been covered.
- Vote on an existing idea instead of creating a duplicate.
- Continue creating their own idea if none of the suggestions are relevant.
Why?
This could help reduce duplicate feature requests, keep the backlog more organized, and, perhaps most importantly, consolidate votes on existing ideas instead of spreading them across multiple similar requests.
Personally, I already use AI to check whether a similar idea exists before submitting a new one. Having something like this built directly into the creation process would make things much easier! 😄
Not necessarily a high-priority feature, but something worth considering for the long-term backlog.
*OpenAI’s Images 2.5 really did a good job visualizing what I had in mind 😅
