As well as working with Jira and Confluence, you can now interact with your Goals and Projects in ChatGPT and Codex through the Atlassian plugin. Ask questions about progress, catch up on project updates, and prepare for your next goal review - all from the conversation.
The plugin’s latest updates - composer mentions and a pinned Home app - make it easier to bring your Atlassian work into the conversation. For Goals and Projects, Home gives you a starting point to explore what has changed, prepare an update, or understand the work behind an outcome.
Start with your Goals and Projects
Pin the Atlassian plugin and open Home to find your Goals and Projects alongside your Jira work and Confluence content. Select an item to start a conversation with a prefilled prompt, then shape the request around what you need.
Here are a few prompts to try with a goal or project:
- Catch up before a check-in: “Summarize the latest updates for this project. What has changed, and what questions should I ask the owner?”
- Prepare a project update: “Help me draft a concise update covering progress, blockers, and next steps. Flag any missing information for me to fill in.”
- Review progress toward a goal: “Using the available updates for this goal and its linked projects, summarize progress and highlight risks that need a discussion.”
- Make a stakeholder conversation more useful: “Turn this project’s recent updates into a short briefing. Separate decisions needed from information to share.”
Add the context behind an update
Need to dig into a supporting spec or piece of delivery work? Type @ in the composer, select the Atlassian plugin, and search for Confluence content, Jira work items, or people to add to your request.
For example, bring in a project’s planning document and ask: “Compare this plan with the project updates. What should we clarify before our next check-in?”
The experience is powered by Atlassian’s Teamwork Graph and MCP Server. Access follows your Atlassian permissions and your organization’s controls.
