Getting useful help from AI starts with the right context: the spec you're building from, the Jira work item you're tackling, or the teammate whose work you need to understand.
We're introducing two updates to the Atlassian plugin for ChatGPT and Codex:
- composer mentions to find and bring specific Atlassian context into your prompt, and
- a pinned Home app to help you pick up your work.
Behind both is Atlassian's Teamwork Graph, which connects your organizations goals, work, knowledge, and teams across all Atlassian applications and 90+ of the most popular applications on the market. Through the Atlassian MCP Server, that context comes into ChatGPT and Codex, helping you move from finding the right information to taking action on it.
Bring the right context into your prompt
Type @ in the composer, select the Atlassian plugin, then search for Confluence content, Jira work items, or people. Choose the item you need and continue writing your request.
For example, select a product spec and ask: “Summarize the requirements and draft Jira stories with acceptance criteria.” Or select a Jira work item and ask: “Explain what needs to be done and help me plan the next steps.”
You choose the source directly, without hunting for a link or copying its contents into the conversation.
Find and select Atlassian context without leaving your prompt
Pick up your work from Atlassian Home
Pin the Atlassian plugin for a starting point inside ChatGPT or Codex. Home brings together Jira work assigned to you, Confluence content you're working on, recent Looms, your Goals and Projects, and Bitbucket pull requests awaiting your review or revisions.
Select an item to open a new conversation with a prefilled prompt. A pull request, for example, can start a review conversation. You have a concrete place to begin, with the relevant work already selected.
Take action on your recent work, right from ChatGPT
These updates build on the plugin's existing Apps UI, which brings visual elements for Jira work items and Confluence pages into ChatGPT. Composer mentions and Home add new ways to find the right context and pick up your work. Access remains subject to your Atlassian permissions and your organization's controls.
Try it with your next task
Find and install the Atlassian plugin in the plugin directory, connect your Atlassian account, and start with a page or work item you already know.
