I have been trying to download jira data onto excel for a while i keep getting error. i have tried on different browser also tried re-login. It seems to be working fine for everyone else.
Hi @Tom George Menachery!
Here are a few things I'd suggest checking:
Atlassian also has a support article about this exact export error, that can help you.
As a workaround, you can also try exporting via a Marketplace app such as Issue History for Jira (Work Item History). That supports Excel and CSV exports across multiple work items, including their change history if that's the data you're after.
Hope this helps!
Hi @Tom George Menachery,
Since it works for everyone else, I would look at your personal column setup first, because Export > Export Excel CSV (current fields) uses your own column configuration, and a single broken or removed custom field column can make the export fail just for you.
I would try Export Excel CSV (all fields) as a quick test, and if that works, reset your columns in the list view via Columns > Restore defaults (or remove recently added fields one by one) before exporting with current fields again.
Cheers, Martin
Since you've already tried different browsers and logging in again, I'd suggest checking these two resources:
Hopefully one of these helps you get the export working again! 🙂
Thank you for the response. The export is not working for any type. even after restoring the defaults, it is not working
Thank you for sharing this. But i believe the options mentioned there isn't available for jira now. The options mentioned are not present there
Hello @Tom George Menachery
I starting to think Maybe WebSocket connections are being blocked?
Atlassian confirms this can cause exactly this error:

Best,
Arek🤠🧙♂️
A couple of questions @Tom George Menachery (if you haven't resolved this already):
If #1 works, it could point to a corporate proxy, firewall, or WebSocket-related restriction, as Arek pointed out.
Otherwise, I recommend contacting Atlassian Support with the error details and the troubleshooting you've already done. Note that you need to be an app admin (and on a paid plan) to raise a ticket there 🎟️ If you're not an admin, you can ask one to raise a ticket on your behalf. And a hint/tip: you'll probably need to prepare/generate a HAR file for further analysis. 🧑💻
Cheers, Tobi
