Git push blocked by user limit on Free plan with only 1 user

Question

My Bitbucket workspace is on the Free plan. Both the billing page and User directory show only 1 user.

However, git push fails with HTTP 402 and says the workspace has exceeded its user limit and the repository is read-only.

How can I restore write access? I want to remain on the Free plan. Could Atlassian staff investigate this mismatch?

With only 1 user I'd look at the free workspace cleanup first. Same setup in this thread, 1 user, Free, same error: https://community.atlassian.com/forums/discussion/3239669 Support traced it to the cleanup hitting his personal workspace and re-activated it.

Quick check on your side. Avatar > All workspaces shows a box linking to deactivated ones, or go straight to bitbucket.org/account/workspaces/deactivated since the box doesn't always appear. A workspace admin can restore it from there.

Nothing there? Then it's one for Bitbucket Support, they can see the account side.

Not sure about bitbucket free - but if you've invited any users - or added anyone accidentally - they count as an additional user.

Check your Admin controls/Org Admin level directories to see what's there.
