Jira Authentication, SSO enforcement for local accounts

Question

Hi.  We want to enforce the SSO authentication however the only option that our support SME is given us is to use GUARD which has a COST.

The security features should not have an additional cost of the solution.  The SSO enforcement should NOT be costing extra licence fees.  How are you dealing with this in other companies?

Hi, we have Jira Premium which does not include Guard.  I understand this feedback should be provided to Atlassian Support, however I wanted to share this tought to this community since I really believe a fundamental security feature such as SSO enforcement should NOT cost additionally.

This is, partially, mentioned here: AX-349: Atlassian Guard should part of Jira software as a package which basically says:

1. Security is Not Optional

In today's digital environment, security is a necessity, not a premium feature. With increasing cyber threats, every organization-regardless of size-requires baseline identity and access management tools to protect their workspaces. Features like SSO, enforced 2FA, audit logging, and admin insight should be standard, not locked behind a separate paywall.

But, as the fellow community folk have said, you need to have Guard for this 👀

This is a bit more explained in Atlassian Trust Center, but all-in-all, whenever someone asks for SSO and additionally security, Guard is always considered within the licensing domain.

*unless you're on Enterprise, then you get Guard for free
