Timeline View: Can no longer clear or change sprints, or the ability to select multiple stories

With the recent rollout, I’ve noticed that the ability to update or clear a story’s sprint assignment has been removed from the Timeline view. The options no longer appear in the three-dot menu next to a story.

Additionally, the checkboxes for selecting multiple stories are no longer available, which makes it impossible to move multiple stories at once from the Timeline view.

Are these capabilities expected to return in a future update, or have they been permanently removed? If they are still available, are there any settings or permissions that need to be updated to restore this functionality?

Adding to the answers above: the Backlog route is the native way to move several stories at once while the Timeline is missing it, and it's worth reporting the regression so it gets tracked.

If you'd rather keep doing this on a timeline: disclosure, we build Ganttry, a Gantt app for Jira Cloud. On a chart built from a board you can tick several stories (checkboxes, Shift-click or Ctrl/Cmd-click), open Plan in Jira from the selection bar, set the sprint for all of them in one row, and publish. You see each story's current sprint next to the new one before anything changes in Jira. Happy to answer questions here if you try it.

Hi Dustin, while you wait on that feedback, two native places still handle sprint changes for several stories at once.

Backlog: select stories with Ctrl/Cmd-click (or Shift-click for a range), then drag them onto the target sprint or the backlog section, or right-click the selection and use the move options. Dragging into the backlog section clears the sprint.

Search / list view: run a JQL query for the stories, for example parent = EPIC-123 AND sprint in openSprints(), then use bulk change → Edit work items and set the Sprint field to a new sprint, or clear it. That's also the quickest route when the stories span several epics.

Neither brings the Timeline options back, but they cover the bulk move until Atlassian answers your feedback.

Thank you. Below are my responses:

* Does right-clicking the story's schedule bar still offer Change sprint?* No. The only options are: Remove Start Date, Remove Due Date, and Clear Both Dates.

* Under View settings, is the Timeline configured to schedule child work items by sprints?* No. I select Work item start and end dates, as that is more useful. When I select Sprints and then right click the bar, the 3 options above remain. There is no other change.

I've already submitted feedback to Jira. Looks like these are pretty big oversights to me.
