I’m managing content updates for an ecommerce website and I’m trying to find a clean way to organize them in Jira without creating hundreds of small issues.
For example, a website like Moodcrafts [external link removed] can have different types of content work happening at the same time, such as product descriptions, collection content, blog updates, SEO improvements, and updates to existing pages.
My concern is that creating a separate Jira issue for every small content change could quickly make the project difficult to manage.
I’m considering grouping related updates into larger tasks and using subtasks only when different people need to work on specific parts.
For example:
Website Content Update
- Product page updates
- Collection page improvements
- Blog updates
- SEO metadata
- Internal linking
- Final review
I’d like to know how other teams handle this in Jira.
A few questions:
- Do you create one Jira issue for each content update or group related updates together?
- When are subtasks useful for content work?
- Is there a good way to organize recurring content tasks without creating duplicate issues?
- Would Jira Components, Labels, or Epics be better for separating content, SEO, and development work?
- How do you keep completed content tasks from making the project unnecessarily cluttered?
I’d be particularly interested in hearing from anyone managing content-heavy websites or ecommerce projects in Jira. What structure has worked best for you?
