Is there a possibility to see the real engagement on a Confluence page ?

Hello Community,

I know we can see which users engage with our Confluence pages through "engaged" / "not engaged" labels in the analytics sections.

I was wondering if we can see how far users go when reading a Confluence page ? I'd like to see who reads the entire page, and who stops reading after one or two paragraphs ?

As I've put in in the picture attached, for long Confluence pages, it would be great to see avatars (whether anonymized or not) placed wherever on the page they've stopped reading.

Hi Andrei,

Confluence analytics can show page views and engagement, but it doesn’t track how far someone scrolls or where they stop reading. That would require a custom or third-party solution (I am not sure any exist at the moment)

In Confluence analytics, unfortunately there is no feature to track scroll depth, paragraph drop-off, or display reader avatars showing how far someone read down the page.

If measuring content completion is critical for your documentation, you can use enterprise analytics tools (such as Contentsquare, Datadog RUM/Product Analytics, or Adobe Analytics) which can track scroll reach percentages and attention maps across internal web properties.

You can track all individual views (left) and the aggregated values as Insights (right) per page using the Better Content Archiving and Analytics app:

It does not track how far the viewer scrolled down though, that's a really interesting use case.

Unfortunately, that information is not published by the Atlassian platform for apps (those only receive a general "page viewed" event). And, as far as I know, it is not part of the built-in analytics either, so I would say there is no solution for your use case at this time.

@Andrei Eleodor Sirbu This is actually quite cool concept 😎 It's definitelly in the 'Atlassian style' 😄

I know there's this analytics 'upgrade' feature request, and even if it doesn't ask specifically for what you're asking, it would be worth mentioning it there: CONFCLOUD-77656: Advanced in-page user activity analytics and tracking in confluence

Hope to see this being implemented at some point!
