Getting trial license for Jira DC migration

Question

I have a client about to migrate from DC to Cloud. I need a new DC server to test out the migration steps of some plugins. Their servers are of course not accessible right now.

But Atlassian has blocked generating new trial licenses.

How am I supposed to test like that?

Hello

self-service Data Center trial licenses were removed in March 2026, but existing Data Center customers can still request a trial license from Atlassian.

The request goes through Purchasing & Licensing → Product trials.

Mention the existing DC entitlement and that you need a temporary test instance for JCMA/app migration validation.

Marketplace app trial licenses may still need to be requested separately from the respective vendors.

Hi @KC Wong ,

Atlassian blocked self-serve Data Center trial generation as of March 30, 2026, but existing customers (like your client) may be able to  still get a trial or test license by contacting their account rep or Atlassian support directly. Just note trials are meant for products the customer doesn't already own, so ask about a test instance under their existing license instead.

That's a question for Atlassian Support - not that I disagree.

It's one of the reasons I keep saying "Migrate Yesterday" (Within reason) - its only going to get worse as time drags on.
