Hi Confluence admins 👋
We’re excited to introduce a new site-wide security setting for Confluence Cloud Enterprise customers: Exclude content titles in URLs. When enabled, Confluence URLs will contain only the space key and page ID — keeping sensitive page titles out of the address bar and out of any links your users share.
Who is this for?
This feature is designed for security-minded organizations that use sensitive or proprietary information in their Confluence content titles. If employees copy a page URL from the browser address bar, the title could otherwise be included in the link and unintentionally reveal confidential information when the URL is shared elsewhere.
What’s the benefit?
When enabled, Confluence removes content titles from browser address bar URLs. This helps reduce the risk of exposing proprietary information through copied and pasted links while preserving the normal Confluence navigation experience.
For example, a page URL that includes a page title will instead use the page identifier without the title. The setting applies site-wide and supports Confluence Cloud content types that use title-based URLs.
How to enable it
- Open Confluence administration.
- Go to Security > Security configuration.
- Turn on Exclude content titles in URLs.
The setting is available to customers on the Enterprise edition and is configured for the entire site.
Result: People can copy and share browser address bar URLs without inadvertently including the title of the Confluence content they are viewing.
This feature works for content titles in Pages, Live Docs and Blogs (Whiteboards, Databases and Slides already do not have the content title in their URL).
We’d love your feedback
