Automation 'User condition' doesn't work

Hello,
I'm trying to build new flow based on Assignee update.

Once the Assignee is updated ⇒ Check if the selected user is included in a specific user's group ⇒ Update custom field.

It seems that once executing the flow, it get stuck in 'In Progress' status.

I simplified the flow only for one If-Else block and it still get stuck.

Did anyone experienced anything like that?

Does the problem still persist? Is it a one time issue or does it apply to all other issues triggered by the same rule? Any problem in other rules? You could also contact Atlassian for further investigation via https://support.atlassian.com.

Issue still persist. I tested it on 2 different Jira cloud sites and it acts the same.

Actually, the execution showed in the screenshot is still in 'In Progres' status.

Hi Yaron, I rebuilt the same shape on a test site today, Assignee change into an If/else with a User condition "is in group" and then an edit to a custom field, and each run finished within a couple of seconds on both branches, so I don't think the User condition on its own is what hangs.

Next I'd check whether the custom field actually gets updated on the work item while the audit log still shows In Progress. If it does, the rule ran and it's the log status that's stuck. There's an open Atlassian bug for exactly that symptom with a Field value changed trigger, AUTO-2095, still gathering impact with no workaround listed, so I'd add your case and your two sites there. If the field doesn't change, I'd swap the User condition for a JQL condition with assignee in membersOf("your-group") and see whether that rule completes, since it takes the group check out of the picture.

Hey @yaron, that sounds like a good plan, and I'd be curious how the JQL condition version behaves on your two sites. If it also sits at In Progress while the field quietly updates, I'd add that detail to AUTO-2095 together with both site names, because it would show the group check itself isn't what holds the execution open. Let me know how it goes.

Even after trying the JQL condition (assignee in membersOf("your-group")), the execution stucks in status 'In progress' for some time.

At least it does looks like the following steps continue to run as configured.
