How to insert/embed an existing Whiteboard into a Concluence doc?

I have a Whiteboard diagram that I want to embed into my Confluence page. I cannot find how to do this.

I can embed a new Whiteboard via the Insert menu. But I don't want to create a new one - I want to use an existing one.

Some previous suggestions on the forums say to just paste the URL of the Whiteboard into the page. For me this just pastes the URL as a string and doesn't embed the actual diagram.

I'm really stumped with how to do this.

Would anyone know?

Hi there,

It's possible to modify preferences of how a link appears. After you post the link to the whiteboard on the page, try clicking on the link itself and then clicking on the button that says URL on the bar. You should get this pop up box and should be able to switch to embed and see if that works.

For an existing Whiteboard (not Create new):

Open the Whiteboard → copy its URL from the browser.
In the Confluence page, on an empty line, paste the URL and wait for the Smart Link / embed card to resolve (paste as Smart Link, not as plain text). If it stays as a raw URL, select the link → change display to Smart Link / Embed.
Alternatively: Insert (+) → search Whiteboard / Smart Link and pick the existing whiteboard from recent/search if your site shows it.

If paste never upgrades past plain text: confirm you have view access to that whiteboard, you’re in the new editor (not comment-only), and the whiteboard isn’t in a different product sandbox the page can’t embed. Some older “paste URL” advice assumed Smart Link auto-upgrade which can be disabled by paste-as-plain or by browser extensions stripping the embed.
