Hello @hsl
I flagged this post to Atlassian attention. Historically there was a precedence where some version lacked proper signing https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/SRCTREEWIN-14668
Best,
Arek 🤠
i saw that page before, but i just recieve a windows notification on rigth bottom side it was so fast, it keeps on the sourcetree logo, but was registered on windows events
Yes, but that will probably need some inspection from Atlassian. We are not working for Atlassian; that's why I flagged this post for their attention.
Till then please use old version.
Cheers
thank u
Hi @hsl ,
I haven't seen some other reports around this and we don't have this particular security package on our devices that I can properly test it out.
However, by looking at SourceTreeSetup-3.4.32.exe signing certificate seems to be valid.
With an expiry date in October 2028.
You could check your installer file by running this in PowerShell:
Get-AuthenticodeSignature "C:\path\to\SourceTreeSetup-3.4.32.exe" |Format-List Status,StatusMessage,SignerCertificate,TimeStamperCertificate
It could be that this is some out-of-sync Windows issue or Smart App Control blocker. What you could check is this:
Microsoft specifically says that when Smart App Control blocks an installation, you need to look at the Code Integrity log to determine which individual file was blocked. Event ID 3077 is the enforcement/block event, and 3089 contains signature information related to it.
3077
3089
So I think the best next step for the OP is: Open Event Viewer Go to:Applications and Services Logs → Microsoft → Windows → CodeIntegrity → Operational Find the event corresponding to when SourceTree was started — most likely Event ID 3077 Check the File Name in that event. Run the code above
So I think the best next step for the OP is:
If you have an internal IT department, they could maybe lend a hand in troubleshooting this (as it might be related to Windows/OS rather than the installer and Sourcetree).
Cheers,Tobi
Following your steps and because i know the time the error was , the window info says that the file is <myuser>\AppData\Local\SourceTree\app-3432\SourceTree.Api.Dvcs.dllSo the file is SourceTree.Api.Dvcs.dll
it refers that source tree attempted to load the dll and that did not meet enterprise signing level requirements or violated code integrity policy
my win11 is fully updated btw!
Thanks for your guide!
Ah yes. I've tried running ,
Get-AuthenticodeSignature "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\SourceTree\app-3432\SourceTree.Api.Dvcs.dll" | Format-List Status,StatusMessage,SignerCertificate,TimeStamperCertificate
but it does say the file is not digitally signed. On the other hand, the same file in v3.4.31 is also not signed. 👀
This would need some deeper troubleshooting on Microsoft's side. Any chance you can reach out to your IT department that handles these security policies to check with them if they have any insights?
but lets wait for them. this is mylaptop with win11 that as that smart protection.on win 10 update is fine.
I updated on w10
Welcome to the Atlassian Community @hsl
Can you please share with us the solution once you get assistance from Atlassian?

@hsl
Code Integrity log shows Windows isn't blocking the installer so issue seems to be `SourceTree.Api.Dvcs.dll` when the app starts.
So version 3.4.32 has a new file hash, Smart App Control hasn't had a chance to build up a cloud reputation for this new version of the DLL yet. This seems like it might be a reoccurrence of the `SRCTREEWIN-14668` issue.
So, based on all that, here's what I'd recommend doing:
1. Stick with version 3.4.31 for a safe workaround (it's best to keep Smart App Control enabled!).
2. Run `Get-FileHash` on the `SourceTree.Api.Dvcs.dll` file to grab the SHA256 hash and include it to your Support Ticket.
