Loom Screenshot not working on desktop

I can see the Loom app in my taskbar but when I "Select Area" to take a screengrab, nothing happens.

What's going on? How can I fix this?

A couple of quick questions first:

Are you using Windows or macOS?
Does this happen only with “Select Area”, or also with full-screen screenshots/recording?
