This week, let’s talk about AI in Jira…

After some inspiring conversations and sessions at Team ’26, I couldn’t resist jumping into this topic. AI is everywhere right now; however, what does it actually look like in your day-to-day work?

For me, AI is a real time-saver. One of my most common use cases (especially with Rovo) is summarizing information. When a ticket, thread, or project starts getting overloaded with details, having a quick summary helps me cut through the noise and focus on what matters. It definitely speeds up decision-making and keeps things moving.

So, how are you using AI in Jira today?

Are you using it for summaries, like I do?
Maybe for writing descriptions or comments?
Or something more advanced?

I mostly use Confluence, and Sometimes Jira. But Rovo AI is very useful to read into different pages or tasks. That's my main use. I have also created Agents with specific tasks related to my job. I don't do fully automation, human always in the loop. But Rovo AI helps me reading into different pages and tasks and also finding mistakes and proposing corrections.

Rovo skill especially for regular use - saves AGES getting a regular pithy summary of what's going on.

I'd like to be using embedded actions in workflows but it's not really needed for my current team - the idea of having a "refine work item" status you pop things in and they come out lovely is epic.

I'm going to write a proper article about it, but one thing I built for our team that people seem to really enjoy is a Rovo-powered "Daily News" automation. It finds all the work our team has completed in the last 24 hours and publishes a Confluence page highlighting the major milestones and important blockers.

Hi,
We haven’t dared to enable Rovo because we don’t know how much it will cost once the usage cap is reached. But we would really like to enable Rovo 🙂
What are your thoughts on costs?

Very basic use, but definitely a time-saver. I'll ask Rovo to help me find a specific ticket when I don't remember all the details.

I am loving to use Rovo in Jira and Confluence. In Jira I mostly use it for the following:

Summaries
Reply suggestions
Adding comments
Acceptance Criteria's based on the description of the ticket
I also use it as part of my automation rule to create bugs from failed test cases (my favorite 😍)

I'm mostly using AI in Jira for making messy information easier to understand. For example, when I’ve written a quick comment or update in a hurry, I use AI to restructure it so it’s clearer, more logical, and easier for others to understand & act on.

For me, AI is less about replacing work and more about reducing the friction around communication. The thinking still needs to be mine - AI just helps make it readable for everyone else 😄 💙
