HiI’m looking for a way to use AI to generate a project plan directly within Jira. Specifically, I’d like to input a project description or goals and have it draft a roadmap, tasks, or milestones.

Does Jira have a native AI feature for this yet? Thanks!

You could do this with AI tools and Atlassian MCP server, but the MCP server uses the Jira API, to make actions.

So you can also just use the API

Jira has API endpoints to serve the creation of a project.

JIra API also serves endpoint for creating plans, but this can only be done if the project is created.

And JIra API can create issues in the new project and they can be in the plan, based on the source of the Plan.

Thanks. It would be great to have a way to generate Jira project plans and tasks using AI prompts directly. I am looking for a simple, "no-code" solution that doesn't require using the API or technical workarounds.

This is not possible.

Only options are via the GUI or the API, as a Jira license is required and related permissions in case of a company managed project (jira admin) or team managed projects need to be enable for every user in the Jira global permissions

Anonymous no projects can be created.

If you want to generate project plans in Jira, I would suggest starting your search within Atlassian Rovo because it is an integral part of the Atlassian environment. This tool can generate a project plan based on a short brief, create milestones, and help break down the project into epics and tasks.
Alternatively, you may use other tools, such as ChatGPT and Claude, to draft project plans, user stories, and acceptance criteria. Afterward, you can just go through the output and upload it in Jira.
