Do I need to up-grade to do this or do I need to purchase and account w. Zapier or IFTTT?

It's possible to connect a calendar to your Planner, so if you create focus time in Trello Planner, it will also sync to Google Calendar.
This support doc has more information about the Trello Planner: https://support.atlassian.com/trello/docs/trello-planner/
