Grouping by Status would seem to be a basic requirement for plan view in Advanced Roadmaps. How do I do it or how do I request it for a future release?(I don't consider grouping by Labels an option and I don't have permission to create custom fields in my corporate production instance of Jira.)

You can filter by status, but nog group by status.
