Preparing for the ACA-905 – Anyone else studying right now?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently preparing for the ACA-905 certification and was wondering if anyone here is also studying for it at the moment.

Do you have any tips, tricks, or recommended resources that really helped you in your preparation? I’d also love to connect with others who are working towards the exam, maybe we can share experiences, exchange study notes, or keep each other motivated.

Last week I took the exam and I’m happy to share that I passed! 🎉
To prepare, I used these great courses that Atlassian provides here: Jira Software Board Configuration Certification Prep.

The exam focuses on key topics such as knowing how to distinguish between Kanban and Scrum boards, as well as understanding the differences between team-managed and company-managed project boards, and being familiar with all the configuration options available at the board level — including quick filters, card layouts, card colors, and swimlanes.

Congrats on making the decision to earn the ACA-905! (For me the hardest part can be just deciding to go do it).

I've actually got a live study group that is ongoing for the ACA-905.. we've had a few sessions already, but there's still two to go. I'd love for you to join in the remaining sessions (6 AM PST on Fridays) and you can catch the prior ones on my youtube channel.

I'm also working on a full length course specifically for the ACA-905... I hope it have it live next week, but feel free to join the waitlist here.

In terms of the exam and certification:

Understand how Team vs Co managed projects handle boards
Permissions! - e.g. the underlying filter has to be shared, cross project permissions, etc
Column mapping (and unmapped statuses) are important to know
Learn how estimation works, particularly how it impacts reporting and the user experience. (Also note where estimation appears... not all boards have it!)
Get hands on - make time to practice using a board, poke around in the settings etc.

I'm a believer of "you can't get enough perspective or know too much", so the more you talk to folks, explore and ask the better/stronger/faster you'll be.
