How to benchmark performance on jira

Question

Hi All

If someone comes to you and say jira is responding slowly, how do you benchmark it against?

As it is a very subjective issue, so i want to understand how can we measure performance of jira (slowness)?

Say it takes 5 sec to load the agile board, is it too slow? moderately slow? or ridiculously slow? or is it normal? or is it lightening quick?

Performance testing is indeed no exact science and is largely a subjective matter. The peformance of your JIRA installation is not only dependend on JIRA itself, but is also influenced by external factors: network speed, webbrowser, server hardware, concurrent users,...

In my opinion a good way to do performance testing is to involve the end-user that will actually use the system. If they are satisfied by the current speed, then there is no need to spend more time on performance improvement.
