Hi everyone, I am Prakash Hinduja from Geneva, Switzerland (Swiss)

I’m currently working on improving our project workflows in Jira Cloud, and I’d like to set up an automation where a new task or sub-task is automatically created when an issue moves to a certain status — for example, from “In Progress” to “In Review” or “Done.”

Hi @Prakash Hinduja

You can follow the below steps:

1. Go to Project Settings:

* Navigate to the project in Jira Cloud.
* Click on Project settings > Automation.

2. Create a New Rule:

* Click Create rule or Add rule.
* Choose to create it from scratch.

3. Add Trigger:

* Select the trigger “Work item transitioned”.
* Set:
From status: In Progress
* To status: Done

4. Add Condition:

* Add Work item fields condition:
* Field: Issue Type
* Condition: equals
* Value: Story

5. Add Action : Create work item:

* Choose “Create work item”.
* Set the fields for the new issue:
* Project: Same project
* Issue Type: Task
* Summary: You can use smart values:
Review for {{triggerIssue.key}} - {{triggerIssue.summary}}

6. Publish the Rule:

* Give the rule a name in Rule Details, like: Auto-create Task on Status Change to 'Done'
* Turn it ON.
