Jira bulk update issue for mutliple values at one go

Question

equirement from the client regarding the bulk update of Jira issues. Currently, they are using an external tool to perform bulk edits where each issue is updated with different data. However, this process is proving to be time-consuming and inefficient.

The challenge is that standard Jira bulk updates do not support updating different values for different issues in one go. For example, they need to update different test information for each bug, but upload everything to Jira in a single batch. 
Please provide the solution if you have any. Thanks in advance.

Just adding to the great answers above: If you're open to solutions from the Atlassian Marketplace, you may want to have a look at the app that my team and I are working on: JXL for Jira.

JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also comes with a number of advanced features, including the ability to inline-bulk-edit your issues via copy/paste. This works within JXL, but also across JXL and pretty much any other app (including e.g. Excel), like so:

As you can see, you have great freedom over which values you want to update in what issues; I'm just updating assignees here, but I could update any other field(s) as well. This works for any number of issues and fields in one go.

I should also add that JXL can do much more than the above: From support for configurable issue hierarchies, to issue grouping by any issue field(s), sum-ups, or conditional formatting.

Thank you for your quick reply. user can update any of field value (There are 4 issue types in the project). Please let me know if you require any additional information.

Could you provide some more information about what field and what type of data you want to add/update?

It might be possible to do a csv export and import to add or set values if you reference the issue key in the file together with the data you want to add/update

Depending on your testing needs it might be wise to check out a integrated testing tool (Zephyr or Xray for example) that provides a better traceability with test executions and  organization of test cases.
