Unable to multiselect on a custom field

Do you mean you cannot create a multi-select custom field or are you trying to do multi-select on an existing custom field? If it is the latter then it may be possible that the field is a single select. Please feel free to share images that might help us diagnose your issue.
Also, is this Jira Cloud or Jira Data Center?
