Assistance Needed: Removing "Mark Complete" Checklist from All Cards in Trello

Hello,

I am experiencing an issue in Trello where a "Mark Complete" checklist has suddenly appeared on all my cards across every list.

Despite my efforts to remove these checklists, I have been unsuccessful.

I have attached screenshots that illustrate the problem.

Could you please advise on how to remove these unwanted checklists?

You can partly turn it off with the following instructions:

Turn off marking cards as complete for a board

Marking cards as complete on the front of cards can be turned off for individual boards via the board menu. If this setting is turned off, you can still open the card and mark it as complete on the top left of the card. Only a board admin can configure this setting.

Open the board menu
Select Settings
Under Complete Status, select Show complete status on card front to turn it off.

Hallo, habe das gleiche Problem. (Allerdings nicht in allen Arbeitsbereichen. Manche haben diese Funktion einfach nicht.) Ich kann auch deaktivieren. Das klappt. Aber ich kann Termine nicht mehr als "erledigt" anklicken. Wie kann ich das wieder herstellen?

If you double-click the card the mark as complete circle is on the left of the name of the card

It seems like you can't turn it off completely. If you do a search in a search input and open your card from the search results dropdown - you are still going to see the card as a checkbox and it will behave as a checkbox even if you have already turned off this feature in the board settings.

How can I turn off that 'mark complete' on the top left of the card when open? I'm terrified one of my staff members will mark it complete, then we'll not see the card any more.

There is currently no way to get rid of that. As for the fear you do not need to worry as much. All it does is mark the circle as green... The card will still be there (it is not moved, archived or anything, unless you activly setup automations to do so or filter out completed cards)

Companies like Atlassian are just obsessed with completing things, but I still like to think that fundamentally Trello is more than a complicated to-do list.

This checkmark really is a superfluous non-elective feature that just assumes every card is a task.

Add to that, there are many ways to mark a card "complete":

a due date will turn the due date green
a completed checklist will switch to green
we have labels and custom toggle fields
a card can just be archived when obsolete

Not that it can't be a useful feature, and the gray-out is nice, but as admins we need the choice and the ability to constrain.

When it was released, I did see a few accidental checks from members, but thankfully observers at least don't have the option.

Like @Kim Miller, I agree it's a concern. Supposing a team does embrace this as a valid marker for completion, this could cause a lot of confusion.
