Active directory synchronization slow after upgrading to Confluence 5.4.4 from 5.2.3

Hi,

Wondering if anybody is also experiencing issue with Active directory synchronization slowness after upgrading to Confluence 5.4.4 from 5.2.3. We have over 100000+ users so far taken 24 housr to sync 20%. With our other Confluence 5.2.3 server it takes a maximum 4 hours.

Wondering if anybody else has expereince this issue and has a fix.

Running Redhat Linux running TOMCAT 6.35, JDK 1.7.0.17 connect to Oracle 11G database.

Hi Jaime,

You're syncing with port 389? You can try changing to port 3268, sync times are best using the global catalog.

Also, do you need these 100k users on Confluence? If you don't, you can significantly decrease this time, by using a ldap search filter to restrict which users will be pulled from AD.

If you do need all this users on Confluence, maybe you should switch do delegated user authentication, which performs better with tens of thousands users.

only 2 cpu and 4GB less and the RedHat is version out.

I know it a less powerfull server but I didn't expect take so long.

I started from scratch install on my dev enviroment. 5.2.3 Directory sync took roughly 4 hours. When completed, I flushed the cache statictics just in case. Then upgrade to 5.4.4 flush the cache statictics. force a sync and only done 25%+ accounts sync and it taken 24 hours and still going.

What specs are different from both servers?  Memory, RHEL versions, etc..?
