File List - Icon / message when a file is being modified?

Question

Hi,

Is there any method to display a icon/message when a file is being modified (whatever the file is - office or a image, ect...).

So the others team members will see that the file is being update (ideally by who) and avoid any changes at the same time (avoiding conflict or overwriting each other efforts).

This feature doesn't seem to be include in the File "List template".

The permission to view a page is separate from edit, and from modifying files, that's all done by space permissions.

However, this applies to the whole space - you get access to ALL of the files in the space, or none of them, it's not selective.

What a shame there is no "notification system".

Would it be possible to restrict the modification of one or some files to a couple of users only?

I mean a group can see and modify the page, but only one or two can modify a specific file included in that page.
