Link to File directory of local system

Question

Hello.

I can't connect to local files within Confluence using file:// URLs. Is there a workaround?

Also, there is a security issue when using HTML. How can this be resolved?

Ok, if you try to use a file:// link in a page, you are going to need to

* be using a browser that understands the non-standard protocol (most do not by default)
* have the file available on the user's client machine.  This could be completely local, or via a mount that is standardised across your organisation.  For example, everyone has a an S: drive mounted, so that your link can refer to something like S:\data\ourfile.xls

What do you mean by "link" here?  A URL?  Have Confluence read something from a disk mounted on the server?  A pointer to a file share?

I do not understand what you might mean by "alternative to security issues using HTML"
