3 Questions - 1. Customer level access to Jira. 2. Automate an export of the "Word" report. 3. Add the "comments" to the HTML report

Question

1. We want to give our customers access to Jira. I already got their account locked into their project, but...

A.  We don't want them to see any comments, is this possible?

B.  Can we limit was issues they can view by Security Level or some other type of data?

C.  My test viewer still was able to click on the workflow buttons, can this be removed for the viewer user?

2. We have an automated report that is emailed nightly. Is there any way to automate the email of the MS Word style report?

3. On the automated report, we can add fields like description. But can we add the comments to the report as well?

Hi Patrick,

How are you generating the MS Word report?

There is a plugin available called Intelligent Reports which allows you to generate and automatically email Microsoft Word reports containing JIRA data.  It allows you to select which fields including comments and custom fields to put in the report, and can report over multiple issues at once.  It is easy to set up as there is no programming or API involved, it is all point and click.  Try it out with a free 30 day trial, it might help with your report.

Splitting up questions will make it easier for people to answer, you have several topics here.  Im just going for the the first one, which is 3 questions in itself.

I think you need to look through https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Managing+Project+Permissions .

As you can see from the above, (A) with full JIRA users, there is no permission to view comments, JIRA does this the other way, in that a comment that is to be restricted access must be marked as such (comment visibility - https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Commenting+on+an+Issue#CommentingonanIssue-Addingacomment ).

(B) yes, per issue security levels can be set ( https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Setting+Security+on+an+Issue  ,  https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Configuring+Issue-level+Security )

(C) Permissions again, see 'Work On Issues'.  Crossmatch your testusers id/groups against Project roles, as referred in your permission scheme.
