How to remove Subtasks from Reporting

Question

I am working with Jira Work Management and I am trying to track all my issues but not sub tasks. I've tried using the "Dashboards" or "Reports" and cannot figure out to remove the sub tasks. I was told by the Atlassian team that I cannot modify my "Summary" page to remove Sub Tasks, but is this true for all reporting?

I am not tech savvy by any means, so if you explain the JQL in my filter options, please type out the whole query. As I tried to use other inquiries in the Atlassian Communities and was not successful.

Hi @Elizabeth Butler,

Try also the dashboard gadgets offered by our Great Gadgets app. They give you all you need for tracking ITSM / Service Desk specific metrics in JSM and they all offer an option to include/exclude the sub-tasks.

If you are doing this in a dashboard then yes, it is possible to remove sub tasks. It all depends on how you configure the filter that you use in your gadget.

Your JQL to not include sub tasks would look something like this:

project = JRA AND issuetype != subtask
