Default priority - specific to a project?

In JIRA 6.2, it seems that the choice of a default priority is global to all projects. Is there a way to make a choice for a given project only? Does that require making a custom field and going the route of changing screens, etc. to use that field instead of priority?

It's not possible to indicate that for particular Project or Issue Type. Providing schemes for these also. You can try Extended Schemes for JIRA which allows you to set schemes and default values for particular Projects and particular Issue Types not only for Priorities but also for Resolutions and Issue Types.

Add a 'Update Issue Field' post function to the 'create' transition.

Make sure to add this post function to the number 1 spot - before the issue is created. :

example:

The following will be processed after the transition occurs

The Priority of the issue will be set to High.
Creates the issue originally.
Re-index an issue to keep indexes in sync with the database.

This is about setting a priority after the fact. The question is about defaulting priority.

This is also a 4 year old question, and it has changed a bit. If you are on server 7.6+, you have "priority schemes" now. Those do different defaults.

With JIRA 7.6, priority schemes have been introduced.

These allow for per-project priority settings.
