Query on app links

Hi Guys

Iam trying to connect JIRA (hosted on windows) to Fisheye (hosted on linux) via application links. 

I am unable to establish connection.

Just wanted to check whether both apps need to be on same platform (i.e. windows-windows or Linux-linux) inorder to establish connection. Or Windows -Linux combination is fine?

It's completely irrelevant what operating systems they are running on.

There are all sorts of reasons the link might fail, but apart from the obvious things inside the applications (settings like username and passwords), the problem is going to be the network between the two systems.
