Chinese, Japanese and Russian characters are not encoded on Confluence page after some time the page has been posted

Question

When I create and save a Confluence page and use Chinese/Japanese/Russian characters, they are encoded correctly. But in some time (several days?) they turn into question marks, this change is not displayed in the history and none of the previous versions of the page contain correct encoding.

How can I avoid this error?

Hi Marina, this issue seems to be related to database encoding. You may confirm whether your database is configured according to our documentation: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Database+Configuration
